Disaster Recovery

Initially funded by a grant from the Georgia Department of Archives, the Council has been working to educate both Superior Court Clerks and their funding agencies about the importance of disaster planning and preparedness.

The initial effort focused on identifying the current state of preparedness in Georgia’s court system through comprehensive questionnaires. Next steps included the provision of disaster planning templates and a communications outreach to state and local officials about the importance of such planning.

Further coordination with county governing boards will address more capital-intensive measures in the future. Possible enhancements include the installation of fire suppression systems in all courthouses and structural improvements to courthouse facilities.
